Work Like an Immigrant Book

Work like an immigrant, is a wonderful book delivered in form of the workshop by Carlos who is an inspirational speaker and business mentor. Don’t worry if you missed attending the workshops made by Carlos about his book. Like many of you, I did not get the chance to attend his series of workshops about the book but got the opportunity to read and cover the most important concepts in his book online. Again, if you missed both attending his workshops and reading the book online, no problem still you are on the truck and I did it for you. Just read, focus, and share what you will be taking advantage of. The book is briefly elucidated in the coming paragraphs.

Carlos’s 5 Important Keys

The author has mentioned 5 important keys that he believes can help anyone to unlock his potential and cause him to move on from one point to another. The 5 keys are separately explained in the lines below. The author believes that this has helped him make difference in life and it is the strategies that made him the one he is today. He encourages, teaches, and shares these points to help you go from point A to B.

Control your mind, control your destiny– in this universe, no matter how you look, how short or tall you are, and no matter what background you are from whether you are poor or rich.  Your life is a gift that is not guaranteed forever. Control your mind; never allow your negative emotions to guide you to the dark of life. It is you who decides where to go and how to go. Do not let your sorrows drag you whenever and wherever they like it, and never allow your past experiences to hold you back. Never think too much about your past and future. Past is like a room that is only intended for visiting not to have resided. What is done is done; you cannot go back and undo everything. Past is like an ended match or game; do you expect the same match to be played in the same way? No. Own and prepare for your future destiny. What you focus on becomes who you are- Carlos. The author has mentioned in the book that it does not matter how difficult of a past you have experienced. Your future can be different, as long as you don’t carry your story and struggles with you. To control your mind, first, figure out what is bothering you and then fix, end, change your attitude and then let it go.

Do it- the author recommend to have plans and goals. Having clear and specific goals is essential to everyone in the planet. What are your goals in all areas of your life? For instance, your first educational goal can be like to read 50 books in this year. Make sure your goals are specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and timely (SMART). Write them down on a paper, because goals that are not written down are just wishes, they should be noted in somewhere.  After goals being written down, what is more important is taking an action immediately or as earlier as possible. Plan in advance every single day you wake up and make sure you are just making progress and targeting your goals. Think about how you can separate yourself from others. Now, take a pen and plain sheet and then write down 3 goals that you most want to accomplish this year and why you want to achieve them and the process you want to apply to achieve them.

Persistence- the act doing continually should not be forgotten in everything you do. If things are done consistently, great results will be achieved. If you feel difficulties in doing things continuously, just create a functioning slogan for yourself and read it to yourself every single day to remind yourself and keep it in mind. Everyone wants the glory, but no one wants to go to the storms- Carlos. Give yourself difficult goals and take the micro steps that take you closer and closer to your goals. The author said in the book, the way you start your day, is how you finish it. This means that if you start your day with an energetic body, mind and attitude you will finish it the same.

Collaboration-within the book, the author clearly described how useful collaboration is in all areas of life. The writer believes that success is wonderful and more fun when it is shared. Working together with other friends in the field, it helps you both get feedback and as well as open your mind for further developments. Working together and adding value to other people is one of the most important things to be considered. It helps us know and aware of the areas where improvement is needed. Therefore, the book recommends working with people and if there is skill set out there that you don’t know, find the mentor or take lessons about it and then the end results will be wonderful.

Communication and contributions- life is all about contributions. Sometimes it is very important to love the people not things. Giving and helping people means that we are helping ourselves in a way. To be exceptional in our industry, we need to communicate with our staff, team, or coworkers in a very kind and respectful way. We have to ask ourselves what can we do differently when people don’t do it. Success is doing what others can’t do, won’t do, and not thinking of doing it- Carlos. Remind your team what to do every day that others don’t do, can’t do, and are not thinking to do. The book encourages creating and writing a mission to yourself, family and friends and reading it to yourself every day so that it will remind you what you stand for.
